The Joy of Humble Beginnings

“For who has despised the day of small things?”

There’s this beautifully complex dance of emotions playing around in my heart as we launch our first official photography website.

It feels triumphant yet full of wonder that we’ve finally gotten here!

I can’t tell you how long I’ve warred to reach this moment. Getting a business started (and running at full speed rather than snail pace, LOL) is hard. Legit hard!

Many people—myself included—can have a disillusioned viewpoint that owning your own business and supplementing your family’s income will be a smooth, leisurely climb. Go ahead, you’re welcome to laugh with me. 😉 

But there are inevitably rockslides, downpours, mountain lions, snakes, etc. that make an appearance on your way upward. Causing you to quickly learn how to dodge, battle, and overcome.

So while the climb is absolutely possible (there is nothing God can’t do!!), it will take a special kind of endurance to keep climbing. The kind of endurance rooted in the knowledge that what and who we’re fighting for is worth it.

And one of the extraordinary lessons I’ve learned this year as a budding business owner is to not despise the humble beginnings. Because even the Lord Himself celebrates and rejoices to see the work begin!

Which means I can’t compare my beginning to someone else’s journey. This business is off to amazing and wonderful places. I may not know exactly where this adventure will take us. But I know the Author and Finisher of my faith will lead us there.
